Lowell's Supports Race For the Cure

The Race for the Cure was held in Lexington on September 17, 2005, and was a rousing success.  Lowell’s wanted to support the Lexington Affiliate of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, so we enlisted the help of our faithful, fit, and supportive customers and friends.  We notified everyone that we would donate $10 to the Komen foundation for every race number turned in to us.  We received 27 numbers and $270 was donated on September 30, 2005.  David Moore, president of the local Susan G. Komen chapter, accepted a check from us, and the event was recorded for history with the attached picture.  David and his wife, Leslee, participated in the race and are long-time friends and customers.

Thank you all for giving your time and effort to this very worthwhile cause.  Remember to put the race on your calendar for next year on September 23, 2006.

Clark Howard on the High Price of Gas
The famed economist recently wrote about attempting to reconcile soaring gas prices...

"Of all things we spend money on, people feel that gasoline is the most annoying and expensive these days. But would you believe that bottled water costs more than gas per gallon? We think nothing of throwing away our hard-earned money on overpriced bottled water. If you are unhappy about what you’re paying for gas, think about all the other purchases you make. The price of gas is taking a bite out of our wallets, no question. But it’s something we need. There are other things you can give up in order to help balance your budget. Bottled water and
cigarettes are two very unnecessary
things."

Lowell's Toyota Tidbits

Hybrid across the board...  "In the future, the cars you see from Toyota will be 100 percent hybrid," Toyota Executive Vice President Kazuo Okamoto told reporters recently.  No time frame was given for this goal.

Tops times two...  Two Toyota-family hybrids, the Highlander Hybrid and Lexus RX 400h, were recently named the top-rated mid-sized SUVs by a leading consumer magazine.  Both vehicles were the only ones in their class to receive the "excellent" rating.

How do you say "Camry" in Chinese?...  Toyota will begin selling the Camry in China in 2006.  Toyota, along with its Chinese partner, plans to sign up up about 100 dealerships and hopes eventually to sell 100,000 Camrys in that country.

They're goin' fast...  Toyota reported best-ever September sales, moving 178,417 vehicles off the lot (Toyota and Lexus combined), or 10.3% more than September '04.  Third quarter sales were also the best ever for Toyota, with 600,196 vehicles selling during the period.
